MHA: The government has approved reserve deputation of about 24 thousand personnel in the existing human resources of the five Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles. The Home Ministry has issued an order regarding this.

The Central Government has taken major steps towards better promotional opportunities, fresh recruitment of personnel and ensuring quality human resources for various internal security functions. The government has approved reserve deputation of about 24 thousand personnel to the existing human resource of the five Central Armed Police Forces and Assam Rifles.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) on Tuesday issued an order for reserve deputation of 23 thousand 958 personnel in CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB and Assam Rifles. Apart from the Assam Rifles, these five Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) have been deployed to perform various internal security duties like anti-terrorist operations, guarding the border, conducting elections and maintaining law and order across the country.

They are also the primary human resource of various specialized organizations like Special Protection Group (ACG), National Security Guard (NSG), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Intelligence Bureau (IB). These agencies work under the Ministry of Home Affairs and are responsible for the internal security of India.

Retired Inspector General of BSF, Ajay Singh, said, this is the first time that the Home Ministry has approved deputation of personnel to CAPFs and Assam Rifles. This will help in ensuring that officers and personnel of these forces are able to go on deputation and enhance their knowledge and skills in a systematic and institutionalized manner.

A senior CAPF official said that the deputation will increase the promotion opportunities of the staff and officers, who perform their duties in remote areas and difficult conflict areas. He said, there are personnel who are genuinely eligible for promotion but are facing delay in improving the ranks as there are no vacancies. He can be appointed to a higher post as he has been given reserve deputation.
